The response so far has been a shock to the system, never in a million years did Toku or Myself imagine this result. I started blogging because it’s a therapeutic practice someone recommended me and it’s been helping me get through some stuff. I can only hope that the blog and what Toku has created can help everyone in some way or another.

My girlfriend and I work at the shelter as often as we can because in a lot of ways it is our highest calling. Even if it’s emotionally draining. In saying that, we’ve agreed that all we want for this blog moving forward is the opportunity to prove to the world that shy dogs can change the world and to help bring further awareness (and donations) to shelters. We would like for this blog to bring about a positive result for everyone, nothing more.

In a way Toku has become more than just a family member, he’s become the glue we didn’t know we needed. Keeping our household intact. We put on brave faces and pleasant smiles on social media platforms but that isn’t always how we feel or who we are on that day. Coming home to Toku running laps down the hall and sharing vulnerabilities with him has become a health ritual for the both of us in this insane time we refer to as the modern age.

Tomorrow, we set off on an adventure we’ve been planning and looking forward to for months now. Like any good adventurer Toku’s been given the very latest tech in preparation for our journey to the holiday home we booked where there shall be a great deal of room for Toku to run and explore, a pool for him to swim in if he so desires and all the love and attention he deserves and more. He’s earned it!

I’ll be running this blog until Toku or I are unable to do so for no reasons other than the fact that it’s helping and healing me and because I really enjoy doing it. I feel like I say this a lot while blogging, but I feel especially fortunate today.
