The more people we met, the more we came to realize that there are just too many poor owners out there to risk giving him a dog so special to. There’s something about Toku, something magical and we can’t just gamble his future away on the promises and reassurances of others. We will no longer be fostering Toku as we’ve just officially adopted him.
Now, it’ll be tough seen as he’s quite the handful and we live on the third floor. But fret not, we’re already speaking with a local contractor about getting a porch built and installed, along with some grass and minor changes around the house. Seen as how my girlfriend just spent a small fortune on ridiculous chew toys and training for Toku, our intent is to give this shy, little troublemaker the home he deserves and then some.
We took Toku to the vet this morning to ensure that his health/vaccination and overall well-being is precisely where it needs to be. Can’t say he enjoyed the trip but funnily enough, he did briefly escape at one stage only to climb onto a desk chair in one of their offices, but we were too slow to snap a photo. Toku’s becoming quite the rambunctious sword.
He loved the car ride. Which was surprising since he, at first, hated them. Perhaps he’s beginning to trust us. Looking out the window, we suspect Toku of trying to better understand the humans.
If someone read this entire blog in an hour, they’d probably find it odd that we went to all this effort only to, in the end, adopt Toku ourselves. In saying that, the bottomline is simply that every potential owner we met for Toku managed to provide us with at least one red flag and in the end, we simply could not imagine life without him.
